Clinics and labs

A clinic is a facility, independent or part of a hospital, that provide diagnosis and care of outpatients A medical laboratory is where tests are done on biological specimens in order to get information about the health of a patient.

Home care

Home care is a form of health care service provided where a patient lives. Patients can receive home care services whether they live in their own homes, with or without family members, or in an assisted living facility.

Hospitals

These are institutions where patients are given diagnostic tests and other medical care, both surgical and non-surgical. They are different from clinics because they tend to be larger and they care for patients overnight. Most hospitals have an emergency department for unscheduled events.

Long-term care facility

A long-term care facility generally treats patients or residents in need of assistance with daily living activities and includes nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, inpatient psychiatric health facilities, and long-term chronic care hospitals.
