You are not required to provide dependant information before a dependant claim is submitted. Your dependant's coverage information is displayed on this page only after you have submitted a claim for them.If a dependant's name doesn't appear to be exact, it won't affect their claim. Correct spelling can be included with the next claim for that dependant.
A spouse is a plan member's legal spouse or a person living with the plan member in a role like that of a marriage partner. For common-law relationships, you may have to satisfy a waiting period before your spouse is eligible for coverage.
A dependant child is a plan member's natural child, adopted child or stepchild (a stepchild must be living with the plan member) who is:
An over-age dependant may be eligible for coverage under your plan. Proof of eligibility may be required.
An over-age student must meet the requirements for a child and be a full-time student at an accredited school, college or university. You do not need to complete any forms.
An over-age disabled child must meet the requirements for a child and
You will be required to complete a Request for Disabled Dependant Coverage.
If your spouse and other eligible dependants have other health/dental coverage, you can coordinate benefits between plans to get up to 100% of an eligible claim amount paid. If your spouse has coverage elsewhere, this enrolment site will require you to provide details of that coverage. With that information, Manulife can determine the appropriate order of payment for your family's COB claims.
Here's how COB works when you make a claim:
Send your claims to your Manulife plan first, then submit the claim statement for any unpaid portion to your spouse's plan.
Send your spouse's claims to your spouse's plan first, then submit any unpaid portion to your Manulife plan.
By selecting this option you are declaring that this dependant is a full-time student at an accredited school, college or university. Plan administrators will be responsible for collecting proof of enrollment from members, each year.
If the effective date of this option is on or before April 1, then coverage will continue until August 31 of that same year. After April 1 the dependant?s coverage will continue until August 31 of the following year.
Note: Coverage will expire earlier if the child reaches the plan's maximum age for child dependants.
To remove an over-age dependant. First change the Relationship to Child and change the Status to Active and select Save. After you have confirmed the changes, change the Status to Terminated and Save again. The child will no longer display on the site.
