Generic

Generic drugs are a chemically equivalent alternative to brand name drugs. They contain the same high quality active ingredients as brand name drugs. The same strict criteria for testing safety and effectiveness must meet the same scientific norms and standards as the brand drug. Generic differ in their inactive ingredients, (i.e. binders, fillers or dyes) and they may appear different in colour or shape but they work the same. They are less expensive than brand name drugs.

Brand or Trade name under which the drug product is marketed.

Maintenance drug

A maintenance drug is a drug prescribed to treat a chronic medical condition, or a drug prescribed for long term use.

Coinsurance

The percentage of the amount eligible that your plan covers, sometimes referred to as percent paid. For example, if your drug plan covers 80% of the amount eligible, then you will be responsible for the remaining 20%.

Sliding coinsurance

An out of pocket % that must be paid by members for eligible drug expenses up to the plan maximum. Once the out of pocket plan maximum is reached, you are eligible to be reimbursed at a different coinsurance for eligible drug expenses. See benefits booklet for details.

The Massage Therapist's professional designation and license number are required as part of the online claim submission. This information is usually provided on your receipt or is available from your Massage Therapist.
