 Asset Allocation
A fund that invests in a diverse range of asset classes, investor styles and fund managers with the goal of maximizing expected return while minimizing volatility for each investor profile.

 Guaranteed Interest Accounts
A fund where you earn a fixed interest rate from the day of your deposit until the day of maturity. The interest rate you earn is determined on the day of deposit and does not change.

 Money Market
A fund that invests in short-term government securities.

 Canadian Bond
A fund that invests in Canadian fixed income securities that pay interest rates, such as corporate and government bonds. This interest rate is more commonly referred to as a 'coupon rate' and is expressed as a percentage.

 Canadian Balanced
A fund that invests in Canadian fixed income securities that pay interest rates, such as corporate and government bonds. This interest rate is more commonly referred to as a 'coupon rate' and is expressed as a percentage.

 Canadian Large Cap Equity
A fund that invests primarily in shares of companies that are incorporated in Canada. While the fund may hold some shares of small companies, it primarily invests in medium to large companies that are listed on Canadian stock exchanges.

 U.S. Large Cap Equity
A fund that invests primarily in shares of companies, incorporated in the U.S. While the fund may hold some shares of small companies, the fund primarily invests in medium to large companies.

 International Equity
A fund that invests primarily in shares of companies that are incorporated outside North America.

 Target Date
A fund that is sometimes called a retirement date fund or lifestyle fund - invests in a broad selection of investment vehicles including bonds, mortgages, money market instruments (collectively known as fixed income invesments) plus Canadian, U.S. and International equities. What distinguishes these funds from other asset allocation options is the management process applied to them. Based on the specific retirement date identified by a plan member (available in five year increments), the asset mix of each target date fund is adjusted regularly to gradually reduce the risk of the portfolio as its participants near their specified retirement date.
